Founder of Brooklyn English
Instructor of English as a Second Language
I have many years of broad experience educating English-as-a-second-language adults of various abilities. The process of engaging learners from all over the world and from all walks of life has been a stimulating challenge for me. My teaching style is learner-centered so that students receive a considerable amount of individualized attention. I design my classes to facilitate small-group learning and collaboration. I also focus on building the confidence of my students to help them overcome learning hurdles.
I received my Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Hunter College in 1981 and have taught ESL for the New York City Office of Adult Education, Baruch College, New York University and the Fashion Institute of Technology. In 1999, I published an ESL reader, In the USA, which highlights American culture and history.
